Yes, but I kind of need to know what "broken" means.

Hard to tell really.
If your notebook was purchased for an R&D operation, then it is probably
in a closet because it cannot be sold.  Actually it can be sold, but
then the company would have to pay the taxes on it that they didn't have
to pay while it was for R&D.  Apparently they can donate them for free
to schools and not-for-profit organizations, but this doesn't happen
very often.
