i was a bit surprised you compared postgresql to mssql.  i compare
postgresql and oracle and never thought mssql was comparable.  a lot of
that is on the exploitable history of mssql, it has had a very bad year
as far as security is concerned.  One that stands out in my mind is the
popular exploit of last may, The SQLsnake.  MSSQL does not have a good
rep in db and security corners.

thats just my two cents.  i sure you'll find all the information you
need about postgresql to help you find the best solution.
