I sent one of those adapters back - Apple posted the recall and sent it out
on their 'Apple eNews' monthly newsletter.  At the time I figured it was
more for appearances than anything else.  The darned thing did run rather
warm - it was one of the first things the user noticed.  But it ran hot for
a couple of years before it was recalled too.  I think the problem was
perceived more than actual.
