I don't think that there's anything wrong with that. However, I remember
hearing that the Corel developers got into trouble because they never
bothered contributing their changes to KDE back into the upstream tree.
When a new version of KDE hit, they would have been forced to re-apply
all of their changes to it (hoping that they would still work).
I would be more worried about problems like the above. Lack of
downloadable ISOs, while not directly related to the above, reminds me
of Corel's way of doing things (yes, I'm probably being overly
critical).
Not to rag on Xandros: the desktop is nice, it's based on Debian and
the company is local.
