depending on the kde release you're using konqueror really isn't so bad.  
kde3.0.4 contains a lot of bug fixes over 3.0.3, and using gcc2.95.x is 
better as well (i had gentoo1.4-r1 using gcc3.2 for only a short time 'till 
the constant blowings up of things drove me to a full re-install)

but yeah, kde3.0.4 with gcc2.95.3 seems pretty stable for me.
