Actually, you should never use passwordless keys for interactive sessions.
You're better off using a key with a password on it, and then using ssh-agent
to supply the password.
On 20/10/02 Valentine did speaketh:

> generate the key file
> ssh-keygen -N '' -t rsa
> after that put your public key (id_rsa.pub) into the .ssh directory on the remote machine
