When you use scsi-emulation via those commands in grub/lilo, the actual 
CDROM is on /dev/scd0 (scd1,2,3,etc.).  /dev/sg0 is raw scsi access 
IIRC, which is what cd writer programs use to burn.

If you have it setup like that to see it in xcdroast, you can use it as 
a regular scsi CDROM drive to read etc. by mounting it from /dev/scd0.
