Dito.

I upgraded a few redhat machines from 7.3 to 8.0 at work using apt-get
-- fairly smooth if you didn't have any ximian modules.

I am a Debian user, and I agree.  In my opinion RedHat did a great job
of pulling Gnome2 together into their 8.0 release.
