Hey, so-o-o-ome day, I may set aside a machine and
build linuxfromscratch on it, to stretch myself.
But until that distant day, I'm happy to pay somebody
to do a lot of work for me, so that I can actually
get "stuff" done, and not spend my life with my
head under the hood. (So to speak)
For somebody who just wants to work at his
job or his recreation, I get plenty of Linux
exposure from trying to fix the things:
a) that just aren't ready for prime time
or
b) that I break.
Meanwhile, I purely do appreciate all the
free-as-beer stuff. I'm trying to make
OpenOffice.org my major tool at work
(as well as spread it to the rest of the company).
Anyway, we all have our risk/adventure thresholds,
and my notion of living dangerously with Linux
is to load the latest commercially packaged
distribution (with SuSE being my choice since
5-point-something-or-other).
I guess I'll leave my order standing at Camelot.
It's only a couple of weeks. Maybe it'll build
my character. :-)
/kevin
