That's a load of BS that the US State Department likes to feed a
gullible public and complacent media. There was never a UN resolution
establishing a "no-fly" zone in Iraq. That zone was imposed unilaterally
by the Americans, ostensibly to protect the Kurds from Iraqi attacks.
However, let's not forget that America's ally Turkey is no less guilty
of killing Kurds than is Iraq. What we have now is this absurd situation
where American and British planes are taking off from Turkish airbases
to enforce a no-fly zone established to "protect the Kurds", while
Turkish planes are using the same bases to bomb the very same people.
