Flame me if you must, but that's one of the things I like about it.

I started using XFCE when I was working at a Solaris/CDE shop, and I
liked the consistency.

Although XFCE looks a bit like CDE, it is not based on Motif and it
a lot faster and less buggy.

I do not use any of XFCE's toys (my idea of a desktop environment is
12 xterms :-)) so I like its lightness.  I do like the little quick-launch
XFCE bar, though.

KDE and GNOME are bloated pigs that just get in my way.
