I am trying to set up VNC to work on my two computers. The Windows 98 has the
VNC server installed with the IP address of: 169.254.73.250

The VNCviewer is set up on my linux unit running Mandrake 8.2.

Both machines have "Intel Pro 10/100" network cards.

When I set up the ethernet card ifconfig gives the following:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:D0:B7:4F:38:86
          inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:21 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
          RX bytes:5494 (5.3 Kb) TX bytes:4720 (4.6 Kb)
          Interrupt:10 Base address:0xb800

The IP addresses in the above were simple taken from a book and I don't know
what they represent or what to change them to.

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
          RX packets:909 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:909 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:84850 (82.8 Kb) TX bytes:84850 (82.8 Kb)

When I tried the linuxconf tool it did not help much as I did not know what
to fill in.

When I ping the VNC server on the other machine I get:
"connect: Network is unreachable"

Can someone help me with this please.

Thank you,
