Ya know, I like many just simply said..gee this is cool, when I first heard
about it. backgrounder...in a former life I have over 15 years expereince
with evironmental design and policy management. Really didnt give it much
thought either when I heard the Canuck were signing up.
Then last week I was channel surfing to get some decent background noise while
working on linux isues...and focussed in on CPAC channel..What caught my
attention was they had the directory of the Danish Environmental Assessment
Institute on presenting his perspective on Kyoto...it was almost two hrs
long. The long and short of it based on the data presented, which absolutely
blew me away...(linux work got left undone) was that the best that Kyoto
would do is delay the mean global temp increase by four years. As presented
its basically a stall tactic at tremdouse cost, as Kyoto is not designed
around permant or addressing solutions. Its about containment. The entire
presentation was based on a discussion that if we are going to spend how many
billions annually why not focus the funding on solutions rather then on
containment strategies. Interesting perspecitve.
What has this to do with linux...plenty...non if it got done while I watched
this. {hence OT} and fully agree with Ian by the way..:)
