My beef with Kyoto is more to do with the current administration's intent
to sign it without debate, without open discussion, without consideration
of the consequences to the economy or to the potential for Canadians to
lose their jobs, and without a free vote on the matter. Chretien wants to
ram it through as a "legacy" and let others worry about what it all means
after he's taken his platinum handshake.

I certainly agree with portions of it (it would be so nice to get 18
wheelers off our roads). But, Canada cannot go alone on this. If we sign
Kyoto (and the US doesn't), what do you think will happen? Does anyone
actually think we'll be ahead, economically? What do we do with those who
will be out of work? Train them. Fine... for what?

You see, there are sooo many questions that can be raised, simply because
noone really knows what the impact is going to be. The mentality of "just
sign it so we can hit the ski hills" is foolish. Let's have a national
discussion on Kyoto before signing such a drastic policy. Last time
someone led a right-angle turn, the company went into the toilet. Let's
not allow this to happen to our country.

Talk first, plan first, act last.
