I'm no print guru - somebody pipe up if I'm full of it please, but as far as
I know CUPS won't work with lpr installed.  As I recall, I uninstalled
LPRing, printconf and printconf-gui because they depended in turn on lpr.
I suppose depending on your system and how you installed CUPS you may still
have lpr in there?
