I would have to agree. Everyone should note that Mandrake specifically asked
people to contribute to Mandrake Club and the like, and probably did so
because they evaluated their situation and decided upon the best way for
people to contribute. Paying $5.00/mo. for three months keeps Mandrake
around, keeps other distros like RedHat and SuSE honest, and ensures many
Mandrake users the ability to continue. It also ensures that several KDE
developers keep getting paid for the great work they are doing (I'm not just
mentioning this bit because I openly advocate KDE, I mention it because KDE
is a great open source project that deserves, no wait, needs to continue).
I would also like to mention that Mandrake is a kickass distro. I used it
the place where I'm currently doing my contract and I forced them to buy a
copy. One thing I really liked about Mandrake was the choice at install time
to use CUPS over lpd (and I prefer CUPS thank you very much).
