It's funny to see this voiced. Especially since we just had a thread on
the list about problems with a service provider. 

I imagine this may vary from work place to work place, but in some of
the past jobs I had, people's work was tied into the local LAN to the
point where if it went down, or a service on the lan went down, you are
left with employees staring at a frozen screen. For example, if NIS goes
down. Adding even more dependancies to things that you can't even
control doesn't seem smart or all that productive.
