Understand migraines well. My uncle suffered from them for over 30 years 
straight with no relief or remedy. Only thing that ever made it tolerable was 
a nap with an ice towel. He learned to live with it. Not an acceptable 
solution.

Wrt to flickering, my monitor is stable at that resolution in VGA, SVGA is set 
higher of course. Try Brad's solution posted earlier and see if it makes a 
difference. Also see the SuSE list for perspectives. Sorry but cant be of 
more help, and no time at present to explore it.
