[oclug] Sorcerer GNU/Linux to vanish?

Hey all,

Just read an article by Joe Barr on the Sorcerer GNU/Linux dist
mentioned recently on this list. Apparently Sorcerer needs
help, and soon. See:

EXCERPT:
"During the Sorcerer installation, I hung out on the #sorcerer
channel on the Openprojects IRC network. I received
installation tips and kept a finger on the pulse of the
channel. That's where I heard Sorcerer's magic might end soon.

Sallee announced on the Sorcerer mailing list that as of the
end of March, he will no longer maintain the grimoire. More
than 100 spells await his review, and he asked that no more be
submitted because he won't have time to deal with them. The
problem is simply one of time. Sallee told me in an e-mail
message that "SGL is days away from collapsing. I have failed
to recruit people willing to perform my duties. I will cease
creating and maintaining SGL when I begin a full-time job."

Sallee seeks volunteers to maintain different sections of the
grimoire. The duties include reviewing, testing, and creating
spells. Unless enough volunteers step up to take over that part
of the care and feeding of Sorcerer, a cool distribution might
go the way of the dodo bird much too soon.

I'm no sysadmin, and I have a failing score on the LPI Level 1
certification test to prove it. Nevertheless, I've had fun
with, and learned from my experience with Sorcerer. This is a
grass root. This is a microcosm of the greater Linux/open
source communities. This is one man's project trying to become
a self-sustaining community. I hope Sorcerer makes it. If you
want to help, contact Kyle Sallee at cromwell at metalab.unc.edu."

Cheers,
Raymond
