You should be more specific about what you are looking to get out of
Tex.
  I'm no expert in Tex, but I thought I should throw docbook into the
ring here.  docbook, in my opinion is the ultimate document processor
format.  I love latex because it is a document processor and has a
wonderfull math element.  docbook does not do math as well, but with
docbook's style sheets it has the potential to produce a lot more format
of documents.  I use docbook to produce latex/pdf/html.  Since the style
sheet is separated it is very easy to do variations of styles for each. 
Tex is very mature, docbook is not, but getting better.
  Any one else use docbook here?
