I suppose if you lived close enough to each other, and used diverse
service providers, you could set up some sort of multihoming via the
other person's connection.  WiFi might even do the trick.  The part
where you're likely to get screwed is DNS...  Since your multi-homing
would be some sort of ad-hoc hack, the RotW (rest of the world) won't
know how to get to you via your main IP address.  Dynamic DNS might
be the answer though.
