Sure, that too... although the behaviour was correct in that case.  A
non-closed table is no table at all.

It's been a while, but whatever problems the missing </p> tags caused were
very obscure.  It would do the paragraph, but general oddness ensued. 
Problems with fonts and font formating come to mind.

This was about 3 years ago, so sorry I can't be more specific.
