A silly question perhaps, but I thought the "alt" key on a PC keyboard
always was a meta key?

As for the Sun type layout of control_L (using Caps Lock for this), I
love it, but find I have a difficult time reverting when using someone
else's computer. I would also get some strange looks when my sisters try
to "Caps Lock" what they type on my keyboard. 8)
