While I agree that Linux will likely always be better optimized for Intel 
hardware, there are some advantages to running it on a Mac - the desktops 
are pricey, but as I've said before, the iBook makes a good Linux notebook 
and can be had quite cheaply.

But in most cases I'd either dual-boot or use Linux to revitalize some 
older Macs that can't deal with the overhead of Aqua.
