[oclug] Configuring PCMCIA NIC

I had installed RH7.2 on an older Toshiba notebook about a year ago at the
installfest. Ithought of upgrading to RH7.3, but the CD's that I got did
not load properly. So I fdisked the whole mess and started over with RH7.2

The NIC is a PCMCIA 3Com Etherlink III 5C589D. After the install, the
dongle on the NIC is lit, however, I cannot get the network to configure.

Proc shows 3c589_cs with IRQ3 I/O 0300-030F and on the bootup, the PCMCIA
and NIC both "load" OK (beeps included). However, the network configuration
shows only the local loopback.

I recall that the RH GUI to do this does not work, but I cannot remember
how it was done the last time (when I was at the installfest about a year
ago).

I had tried to create a file rc.inet1 with the parameters to do this, but
that did not work.
