I used it allows 20 people at an ExitCertified class to run 'make
menuconfig' in order to let them play with the options. It ran. Not
fast, but it was not a crawl either. I would say that it ran at about
60% of the raw CPU speed.
I like the networking connectivity. It takes about an hour to read
enough to know how to use UML.
Basically you can do anything with UML that does not need to talk to
hardware directly. So development of filesystems or testing the latest
NAPI (network API), or FreeS/WAN is great. Development of drivers or
doing real 3D stuff is out.
