Hi Bill,

Regarding network cards, my personal preference is for 3Com, but you'll find 
them quite expensive.  I also use Linksys, and D-link cards and have 
experienced no issues whatsoever.  I've even got a system with a generic, 
no-name brand card that I think is some sort of NE-2000/3000 clone 10/100 
card that works just fine with Mandrake 8.2. 

As for transfering to your client...   You should experience no issues 
transfering data to your client, although you wern't clear on exactly what 
you wanted to transfer.  If you have network access, and webmin is configured 
on your client's systems, it provides some useful and secure tools for doing 
a file transfer.
