[oclug] Networking for a newbie

My exposure to linux is limited but I've got to the point where I can
run mySQL from the command line and from phpMyAdmin and Webmin.My system
is Mandrake 8.2. I would like to now embark on networking.I have two
machines at home that I can practice on and need network cards for both
of them. Is there a particular card I should look for? If and when I get
it all working I might transfer it all to a client with a small four
machine network which only has a light load. Is there a fairly simple
way of doing this?
