Are you implying that politicians are the only people able to contribute
to a society?  I'm not sure you understand what the board is for.  You seem
to be confusing commities with the board.  The board is responsible for
adminstrative issues, commitee will be formed to handle contributions and
organisation and those are open to any of the membership.  The board is
there because we require a board to operate.
