BTW, LotusNotes is a PIG (RAM and CPU hog).

Perhaps part of the reason pepole think a Linux box will be hard to learn
is that they've already learned Windows. It's market inertia. Remember a
great video format called Beta? It's virtually nonexistent now, taken
over by VHS (which still has an edge over DVD for recordability). Beta is
_still_ better quality on a smaller form factor tape than VHS, and until
the Sony DV format came out a few years ago, was what all the TV stations
used.

OS/2 was supposed to be the successor of DOS. Windows was just a
temporary shell over DOS until OS/2 was fully-fledged. There was MS-DOS
and PC-DOS and MS-OS/2 and IBM OS/2. And MS came out with Windows and
decided it was economically better to ditch the superior technical
product.

IMO, MacOS is what people should use coming from a non-computing
background, as it provides a nice looking interface, a more stable
hardware base, and it's _designed_ to be user-friendly.

I can't comment on Gnome/KDE, as I've not used them in a while, but
Windows is the antithesis of a logical, user-friendly interface.
