Hell.

After startup today, eth0 has onece again disappeared.  What the f??k is
wrong with
 this system?  Once again, I read /var/log/messages,

insmod eth0 failed

So now that I don't need it it tries to load the via-rhine module!  I need
RTL-8139.  
I think.  /proc/net/dev lists lo andd ppp, but no eth0.  ifconfig eth0
[up] complains
 device not found or no such device.  However the NIC is still in
 /etc/sysconfig/hwconf.

Does the interface have to be ifconfig up'd before the mod. can be
installed or vice 
versa?

I don't know what the hell to do now. Help help help! This really sucks.
