Hey Gang,

Well, I've done some reading, and my current diagnosis is that eth0 will
appear in /proc/net/dev only when the NIC is fully recognized and
configured. /etc/sysconfig/hwconf includes this:

class: NETWORK
bus: PCI
detached: 0
device: eth
driver: unknown
desc: "VIA Technologies|unknown device 1106:3065"
vendorId: 1106
deviceId: 3065
pciType: 1
-
but that won't do. Likewise, ifconfig won't load the appropriate module.

I installed the NIC in a different PCI slot today, just to eliminate that
variable. No luck.

So, is there a way I can let the system know about this NIC, i.e.
do what kudzu isn't doing? Thanks,

Dave.
