Here are two emails from two of the Netfile services: Taxwiz.ca and
Ufile.ca. So far I can't find an email address for www.quicktaxweb.ca. I
don't mind rebroadcasting corporate emails!
Can anyone comment on the second message's assertion that N6 (which
their clients MUST use) is closer to W3C standards than 4.7x? Not that I
really care anymore...

I can't, I didn't program it. All I know is because you have to download a
file for netfile, it won't work unless you have a PC or a Mac.

Can you explain why on a technical level? Does it require ActiveX
scripts? Visual Basic? Does it require the running of downloaded binary
programs?
I ask because many companies are not aware that other operating
systems can handle everything Java, Adobe PDF documents, Flash plugins, 128
bit SSL encryption, and so on. Also it may be that their customer support
isn't trained in other operating systems, but as users we are generally more
technically educated, and don't require your customer support at that level.
Also, I've talked to users who configure their web browser to lie about the
OS they report to the web server, and most of the time are fully able to use
such services.
If your department has a multi-tier support system, please bump this
up to the next level.

Jeff,
Thank you for your concern. At this time only Microsoft platforms are
available for UFile. We have not tested the Linux environment as of yet
with UFile. We are in the process of testing the MAC environment. We will
add this to our to do list. With Netscape 4.7 and 6.0+ there is a major
difference. Netscape 4.7 went by their own web standards only following
parts of the WC3 standards. With Netscape 6.0 they started to lean towards
the web standards (WC3) I am sure if you go to the Netscape web site you can
read up on the difference between the browsers.
If you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Cyndie, on behalf of the UFile team.
