Nick,
The RedHat hardware compatibility list is always a good spot to check if a
specific device will work or not. You can find it at
http://www.redhat.com/support/hardware/intel/61/rh6.1-hcl-i.ld.html
As for local suppliers, there are plenty. Your best bet is to pick up one of
the local computer magazines(The Computer Paper, Ottawa Computes!, Monitor) and
to check out the ads.
