1) was your previous kernel older? If so, try it again and see if it fixes the
problem. If you used the same .config file (and did make oldconfig with it)
then its probably a bug in the new kernel.
2) alternatively, try a newer kernel.. or look at the changelog of a newer
kernel, and see if your IDE chip's driver had a bug with it
