Hello,
Well I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Hazen, I've been using linux
on and off for about two years got very serious about my habbit eight months
ago. So I'm a newbie / not newbie. I've done alot of work with samba, I've
had a working PDC with W2K domain logons. That was a bit of hacking but
nothing major. I've worked with LDAP, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and done a
Lot of X and Enlightenment stuff. I'm young but I've always liked the
command line and it mysterous power. (rm -vrf / "he he he oops" --kevin on
linux without mr. christe !:)
Currently I'm gainfully employed here in Kanata (I live in East ottawa so
the commute is rough.:( ) I'm a Lab systems admin, I don't really have an
official title, but I do component enginnering and sourceing. I administer
a homogenous LAN, NT4, W2K, LINUX, and even do GPIB and PYTHON stuff
sometimes.
As for open-source development, I'm working on my codeing skills in perl
and python, I know C, I'm learning C++ and any other language I have time
for. Currently I have very little though the startup I'm employed by is
EXPLODEING with growth so I have very little time as it is.
As for life goal's and such, well I'm very much a dreamer/ humanitarian,
I'm currently studieing for Systems enginnering at carleton, but my real
passion lies with MEMS and Nano-technonogy, I'd like to develop applications
that "guess" at the properties of protiens based on fractal equations and
the current state's of organic matter and thier bonding rules, basiclly a
very very large co-relational database that would make, and test these
molecules and find the ones with the properties I need. But that is another
story, or in my case one of thousands.
I have many hobbies, Music is one of them, in all forms I might add. The
others include therotical physics currently reading a book by Prof. Rosen on
the Mobius Principal, Math, the outdoors and linguistics. I guess I'm an
Ubergeek of sorts.
You all may wonder why I'm writeing the long introductory letter, well a
while back I read the How-To on user groups and Nettiquete, and I'm
attempting to be polite.
Oh I like to "hack" and thats why I use linux.
As for the meeting, I saw a mention that it is this evening, any idea as to
how long or where? (I know the Rideau campus well). And would like to know
if it is on the 1st? Also weather or not you mind me joing you all.
Thanks again for your time.
