[oclug] X and a touch pad mouse

Hello,
Im having a problem with X-Windows and the touch pad mouse on my laptop.
The problem is when I tap the pad it interprets that as being a left mouse
click.  Now this can get really annoying after a while, since even sometimes
the slightest touch on the pad will set it off....so Id basically like to
disable this from happening.  If anyone knows of a way, that'd be much
appreciated, mind you I haven't searched the net just yet for documentation,
so if there's a simple answer Im sorry for asking this question :)
