[oclug] VFS: Unable to mount root fs 08:01

Hi all,
I'm able to boot off the out-of-the-box kernel image in Slackware 7.1, but
when I recompile the kernel (either 2.2.17, 2.2.18 or 2.4.0) I get the above
error. The system has an Adaptec UW 294X scsi card, all scsi UW drives,
except one scsi2 drive and an ide cdrom drive. When I config the kernel, I
give it scsi support (not a module), disable all ide support (don't really
care if the cdrom doesn't work at this point...i'll worry about that latter)
and give it scsi disk support. I'm not really sure what else I should
do....
I make a bzImage, cp the System.map and the arch/i386/boot/bzImage files to
/boot, make sure /etc/lilo.conf is pointing to the right stuff (as well as
making sure the root = option is correct and run /sbin/lilo. Reboot and get
stuck!

Any help would be great,
Thanks!
Billy
