Barry,

If I remember correctly, the 1540 and 1542 are ISA-based cards, and aren't
automatically detected during installation.  During a Red Hat install
(5.2?  6.0?)  you had to explicity identify your system as having one of
those cards, and possibly even provide IRQ / IO address information.  I'm
not sure if this option is available in Mandrake.

Hope that helps.  Maybe someone who has used the cards more recently than
I have can enlighten you a bit more.
