[oclug] HTTP and PHP Error

I get the error after I install php4 then try to start httpd.

Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so into server:
/usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: uncompress

I am running apache-1.3.12-2

Does anybody have any idea why this could be happening?  It is a fresh
install of RedHat 6.2.
