Ah, but then there's the "death by a thousand cuts" issue. Sure, a
little sloppiness here, a little more there... and suddenly you end up
with GNOME 1.0 ... but seriously, folks, if it's a one-time hack then
by all means use the solution that requires the least amount of your
(real) time. If it's something that's going to be used by others or
used multiple times, then every cycle saved will translate to
potentially millions of hours saved (and a lot nicer experience for
those involved).
