[oclug] Scanners under Linux

Hey everyone,

I'm in the market to buy a scanner, and yes of course I plan to use it
under Linux only!

I've been browsing the list of scanners supported by SANE, and there
doesn't seem to be that much available that is considered "stable". I'd
like to hear other peoples' suggestions on what to get.

Features I want:
 - absolutely MUST run under Linux. ;-) "Stable" SANE drivers
   preferred.
 - USB interface
 - Good quality, high resolution (1200x1200?)

Additional features that might be good to have:
 - Built-in USB port, if such a thing exists, as I will have no ports
   left after this...
 - Official vendor support for Linux (am I dreaming?)

So far, I've noticed that a few vendors might fit my criteria:
 - Epson
 - HP (Beta...might be painful?)
 - Microtek ScanMaker 3600

Hmm...that's almost pathetic. Please help..I really don't know much at
all about scanners...
