[oclug] Welcome Screen -- CDR-W burning

Hi all,
1. I have L-M 8.0 installed in my box and I keep getting this purple
welcome screen when I boot up, even though I don't have Aurora or
Autologin (if that matters) installed. How do I get rid of it? BTW,
I'm using GRUB as the boot loader.

2. I have a CDR-W (HP 9100+ IDE ATAPI) and I tried using Gtoaster, but
I can't do multi-session burning, either on a CDR or a CDR-W. Gtoaster
acts as though everything is OK, that the files have been burned, but
I can't any of the files from the second session. The CDR-W is setup
properly, so I don't know what the problem could be.

A 'cdrecord -scanbus' tells me this:

Cdrecord 1.9 (i586-mandrake-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jörg
