When I originally received roger @ home the smtp server was simply "mail".
Unfortunately, that only
works if your machine is directly connected to the net (my computer is on a
local lan). Would anyone
know of the full name for the smtp server so that I might be able to send
emails through the rogers smtp
server from computers in my lan?

On the machine configured for @ home, there will be settings
for domains to search. That should make it obvious. You can
also do "host mail", wich should tell you like:

[dlinford at blue dlinford]$ host blue
blue.erisian.com has address 192.168.101.6

[dlinford at blue dlinford]$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
search erisian.com flaky.erisian.com ottawa.erisian.com
#nameserver 192.168.101.3
nameserver 127.0.0.1
