xmms will encounter a seqfault at startup, seems you don't have that
problems.
Also the JVM is having it's own problems, but that may be related to the
i686

As for the Adaptec, credit goes to a fellow worker that attempted the
install,
failed at noticing the Adaptec SCSI card and wrote to RedHat about it
confirming the problem was at the install level.
