Hello,
I would like to begin to thank all of you who helped me get my linux
box to run.
All your ideas were good and I appreciated them all. After I got my linux
machine
to run I setup the ipchains so that the other computers in my network would
receive
net access. That worked. The only thing which doesn't seem to work, is ssh
and ftp.
I can ssh from my laptop on my network to any server out there without
problems.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to like me using ssh from the server itself.

Also, ftp just does NOT want to work from anywhere. A friend of mine told
me it was
because linux proxy is not allowing direct connections for files.Sounds
like a good reason.
The really strange part is that on the computers in my network, i can ftp
IN a site, but it
won't allow me to view files, it will just say

COMMAND:> PORT 10,100,100,2,4,163
         500 Illegal PORT Command
STATUS:> Error opening data socket

(taken from cuteftp)

On my server it just plain tells me...

"ftp: connect: Connection Refused" if I try

ftp> open ftp.anywhere.com

Ps: I am using Red Hat 6.2 for my linux server/proxy.

Would anybody know how to fix that problem?
Any help would be appreicated.

Sincerely,

Tom Cruickshank
