[oclug] Is this a port scan?

Hi everyone, 

My box is controlling access to portmap via tcpwrapper. I just browsed
thru my logs and found: 

Apr  9 16:34:01 myhost portmap[7519]: connect from 24.176.42.218 to
getport(status): request from unauthorized host 
Apr  9 20:47:24 myhost portmap[7696]: connect from 211.217.128.145 to
getport(status): request from unauthorized host 

It this what people refer to as a "port scan"? I receive a couple of
them a week.
