The Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group invites you to attend their

 + at least one lightning talk

THE FREE SOFTWARE MOVEMENT IN BRAZIL
------------------------------------

Nation: the body of inhabitants of a country, united under an
independent government of their own.

Sovereignty: a government _free_ from external control.

  There has been a significant increase in the use of free software,
both in public and private services. Also, Brazil has watched a huge
free software community mobilization, from famous software development,
to big events and LUGs.

  We'll be talking about a couple of digital inclusion government
programs: The Online Citzen Project and Telecenters - and how these
programs may help both Linux spreading and the country's own
technical development.

Rafael Roquetto is a Linux user visiting from Brazil.

Efficient Use of GIT (creative name forthcoming)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kyle will explore various ways to maximize the efficiency of using git
to manage large projects that he has learned in the intervening year
since his last talk. He will begin by demonstrating how disk space can
be saved if you want to keep track of various Linux trees, and if time
permits, go into more advanced details, with maybe some suprises in
store.
Kyle is an nth-year electrical engineering student at Carleton
University. For fun (ha) he contributes to various projects, and
maintains a few bits and pieces of Linux.
We also have room for lightning talks, if anyone wants to give one.
Lightning talks are typically short, 5-minute introductions to a topic.
After the meeting, all are welcome to attend the montly Beer SIG at the
Pour House (upstairs of the Aulde Dubliner) on William Street in the
Byward Market.
For more information about this meeting, contact info-AT-oclug.on.ca or
visit http://www.oclug.on.ca
Hope to see you on Tuesday!
Also: we need speakers for future meetings.  Please email me if you are
interested in presenting any Linux-related topic or if you can refer me
to anyone who might be.
Cheers,
Jody
